On the guarded territory of Lagodekhi, which rose to 2850 meters, there will be a lake, which was formed as a result of the melting of the glacier. The beauty of the lakes, accumulated in the rocks, causes astonishment from the visitors. The Black Rock Lake is located in Kakheti, on the border of Georgia with Russia. It is also called a long lake. It is located on the main watershed ridge of the Caucasus Mountains, at an altitude of 2800 meters above sea level. Because of this, a visit to the Black Rock Lake is possible only in the summer or early autumn.
It is sometimes difficult for experienced hikers to get here, since the footpath starts at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level (the administration of protected areas of Lagodekhi) and rises to a height of 3000 meters. The difference in height is 2500 meters. In Georgia, such a difference almost never occurs. To get to the Black Rock Lake is also possible on horseback, you can rent them in the administration of protected areas of Lagodekhi.
The route of the Black Rock Lake is complex and diverse, here you will meet beautiful views, and you will pass almost every zone: broad-leaved forest, subalpine zone, alpine zone, sub-nival zone, here you will find many plants, birds and animals. If you are lucky, you can stumble in the forest on a roe deer or a deer.
