Narikala is an ancient fortress of Tbilisi, located between famous sulfuric baths of Abanotubani and Tbilisi Botanical Garden. According to many historians Narikala was founded in IV century and has always had a defensive function. The church of St. Nicolas built in XII century within the fortress, was absolutely destroyed due to many invasions that Georgian has been through, but in 2004 it was restored and today it can be seen from any central parts of the city.
In 2012 aerial cable cars started working from the Rike Park straight to the fortress. Thanks to this project, today it is possible to reach Narikala just in few minutes.
