Gudauri

Gudauri is a ski resort in Kazbegi municipality on the south-facing plateau of Caucasus mountain in Georgia. Even though its height is 2,196 m above the sea level, the weather is always warm and pleasant. The average snow depth is about 1.5 m. The distance between Tbilisi and Gudauri is only 120 km. The ski season here lasts from December, till the end of April. The first well-organized hotel in Gudauri  was opened in 1988, but the resort gained its popularity due to the Austrian company “Doppelmayr”, which built the first chair lifts here.  Today 7 ski lifts are functioning. The total length of ski runs exceeds 57 kilometres.

 

 

Gudauri is an ideal place for different extreme sport lovers of all levels. Professional skiers have a great opportunity to choose the track between the slalom, giant slalom, and downhill skiing, and even participate in the world famous heli-skiing. The category of each ski trail is recommended by the International Ski Federation. Gudauri is an attractive place for its visitors even in summer. There are different types of activities like hiking in the Truso and Khadi valley,  horse riding, rafting on the river Aragvi, which are popular not only between tourists, but locals as well.

 

 

For those who love history and antiquity, there is a good opportunity to meet various unique architectural monuments, churches and towers of medieval era.
